    I looked at the price for two days before I let myself order it. Then it came and I understood where the money went. The flowers are set right into the resin and the lights sit behind the cover, so the whole thing glows from the inside out. I have a house full of books and not one of them was doing anything except sitting there.

    I was sure they had printed the cover onto a sheet of plastic and called it a lamp, but that is not what turned up. The cover sits down inside the resin with the flowers and the little dragons around it, and the light comes through from behind so the whole face glows. My wife has read that one four times. It is on her side of the bed now and she shows it to everyone who comes over.

    My Mom Told Me Nobody Would Pay For Them

    The lamp hit the floor and the lights were still on inside it.

    It had taken me five weeks, because I’d had to pour it three times before the resin came out clear. The first two pours went cloudy and I threw both of them away. It was the book she used to read to me when I was small, and I’d done every part of it myself. It was for her birthday.

    My aunt was there, which is probably why nobody said anything.

    My mom looked at it a while. She looked at it long enough that I thought she liked it. Then she opened her hand and dropped it.

    “You’re never going to make it, Anna. Somebody has to say it.”

    I got down and picked the pieces out of the carpet, which took longer than you’d think, because the small pieces had gone under the table. The pieces were still glowing in my hand. I cut two fingers and didn’t notice till the morning.

    That was my own copy. I’d had that copy since I was nine, and it had sat on a shelf looking like nothing the whole time. That was the point of it, if there was one.

    I was twenty-one. I had eleven lamps nobody wanted, three thousand eight hundred dollars gone, and a job I went back to the next morning smelling like resin.

    I didn’t stop. I still couldn’t tell you why.

    Last winter my mom called and asked me what a Nocticadia was, because she’d been going through my page. She wanted the purple one with the skull. She wanted to pay for it too, and she wouldn’t let me say no.

    It’s on her hallway table now. She gets to it before people have their coats off.

    The lamp stands 6.9 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide, which is about the size of a hardcover novel. It sits on a nightstand, a desk or a shelf without taking over the whole surface.

    No, and this is the question we get most. You never send us your copy, so nothing of yours is touched. The cover goes in as its own panel, set down inside the resin and lit from behind, which is why it glows the way it does in the photos. Your own copy stays on your shelf where it is.

    It runs off a USB cable, so it plugs into any phone charger, laptop or power bank, and there is a switch on the cord so you are not reaching behind it every night.

    • It Looks Exactly Like The Photos

      I almost did not order it, because so much of what I buy online turns up looking nothing like the pictures. This one is the picture. The dragons are small sculpted pieces set down inside the resin, not a print stuck on the front of it. The glow is warm and soft, not the blue-white you get off a cheap bulb. It has been on every single night since it came.
